The Alphington Station Planting Working Bee is a community-led project to restore and enhance the landscape around Alphington Railway Station using indigenous plants sourced from the local area.
Working with permission from VicTrack, volunteers have been transforming the station precinct for more than 15 years. Thanks to these efforts, a strong canopy of indigenous trees has been established. Our current focus is on creating a diverse mid-storey and ground layer that provides habitat for small birds, native insects and reptiles while making the station surrounds more attractive and resilient.
Working bees are held throughout the year and typically involve:
No gardening experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome. Whether you can spare a couple of hours or just drop by for a short time, your contribution makes a real difference.
