The biennial Music from the Wetlands Festival is held within the beautiful wetlands along the Yarra River in Alphington. Run entirely by volunteers the event is designed to celebrate music, food, the environment and community. The concert will showcase performers with a connection to the local community and there is a range of interactive displays by local and community organisations.
The concert kicks off from Heidelberg Road, with a music march through the streets of Alphington to the festival site. Music from the Wetlands is a free event, attendees can enjoy the music and festivities whilst sitting on a pea straw bale that they can take home afterwards for mulch on the garden.
Food and drinks are on offer while a children’s program keeps the little ones entertained.
This community event is funded through Yarra Council’s Annual Grants Program.
